For most of my start-up career, "HR Tech" meant clunky software that nobody wanted to use. We thus relied on old-school methods like spreadsheets and paper to handle critical things like compensation adjustments and performance reviews. The good news is that times have changed: there has been a renaissance in HR Tech that's useful and easy to use.
